Martin Louw Baits - The System

The Martin Louw Baits system was developed over a period of 20+ years by legendary carp angler, Martin Louw. The System is designed to attract carp into the feeding area and trigger them into picking up your hook baits, resulting in more big carp on the bank. Although each product can be used individually with success, it is recommended to use the system as recommended. Literally hundreds of 40lbs + carp including 10 x 50lbs+ and 3 x 60lbs have been caught over the years using these additives & dips. Martin grew up using conventional fishing methods then started targeting specimen carp later on. These products have been developed and tested for all facets of carp angling. Carp of any size simply cannot resist!
10 flavour variants have been selected that have produced the most constant results over the years. This gives you the best chance of success at any water. Carp love flavour, are naturally attracted to proteins & amino acids and often have vitamin & mineral deficiencies. We have added all of these ingredients to our range of products making it highly attractive to carp.

Attractor Syrups

Attractor syrups do exactly what the name says - Attract carp! An extremely sweet syrup base is used with added proteins, amino acids, vitamins & minerals combined with proven carp catching flavour concentrates. This attracts carp into the feeding area and induces a feeding frenzy, exactly what you want in the area around your hook baits.
Our attractor syrups are packaged in 100ml “bol dip” bottles for conventional, match & feeder anglers & 500ml “screw cap” bottles for specimen or competitive carp anglers who often prepare larger quantities of ground feed. No matter what method you use to attract carp, adding our attractor syrups to the mix will give you more carp on the bank. Find a few examples below of typical uses:
Conventional, match & feeder angling:
- Use as “bol dip” on bol
- Additive to Mielie bom mix
- Additive to bait balls
Specimen & Competitive carp angling:
- Additive to particle & boilie ground feed mixes (Click HERE)
- Additive to PVA stick, method & spod mixes
- Additive to bait balls
- Boilie Soak/Glug (Click HERE)
Usage Instructions/Guidelines
Add 50ml of attractor syrup per litre of final product into ground feed. It is important not to add syrups while boiling, the best time to add the syrup is during the cooling down stage. Particles will absorb the flavour and other attractants best while cooling down. Mixing different flavours of syrup can be extremely effective especially during the hotter months. Also ensure that you always use preservative in your feed to keep it fresh. Depending on conditions, water and season, syrup quantities can be adjusted accordingly. Some scenarios may benefit from doubling or even tripling the recommended dose, experimentation is the key.
Our attractor syrups also makes a great boilie soak/glug. Browsing carp cannot resists these highly attractive boilies.
Conventional style carp anglers can mix attractor syrups into mielie bomb and/or add a squirt on the prepared "bomb". Additionally preservative and sweetener can also be added to the mielie bomb to keep it fresh and sweet. Also a great additive for making bait balls.

Toffee Apple Dips

Martin Louw Baits Toffee Apple dips are responsible for banking the biggest carp ever caught in South Africa including the current SA Carp record at 65lbs. Once again, not intended only for specimen carp anglers, these dips are equally effective in all facets of carp angling.
Usage Instructions/Guidelines
Using particles (Tigernuts, maize, maples etc) as hook baits, dip your hook bait in the toffee apple dip. Wait until the dip is half dry and repeat the process. Do not let you hook bait dry completely, just let the toffee apple syrup dry between dips. The more times you repeat the process the bigger your "Toffee apple" will become.
With boilies, you can let the boilie dry completely as they will not shrink like particles do.
Concentrated Bait Sprays
Our concentrated bait sprays have been designed with one goal in mind: Providing you with a highly concentrated flavour additive for situations where that extra flavour boost is needed. A very versatile product packaged in a “spray” bottle for easy application in any situation. In some scenarios carp react extremely well to highly concentrated flavours, pulling carp feeding in the area closer to your hook-bait presentation upping the pick-up tempo considerably.
With this product the sky is the limit, here are some examples of how it can be used:
Flavoring hook baits (See usage instructions HERE)
Spray on Mielie bom (Method mix), PVA bags and hook baits
Hook bait dip (Conventional, match, feeder angling)
Flavour boost to attractor syrup application in situations where flavour is proving highly effective
Preservative & Sweetener

Preservative:
Most carp anglers believe that adding preservatives to your feed & bait will chase carp away. While this may be true for some chemical smelling/tasting preservatives the Martin Louw Baits preservative is a natural, high food grade preservative that will keep your baits fresh without chasing them away. Martin Louw has been using this product for many years with great results.
As you all know, Barbel poses a massive problem for South African carp anglers at times. Having your feed go “off” will most likely result in Barbel taking over your feeding area completely ruining your session. Up to now the only real solution carp anglers have found for this problem is preparing fresh feed daily at the water and even then your feed will start to go off in the water if not consumed quickly.
How many times have you prepared feed only to throw it away at the end of a session? Would it not be great to prepare a large amount of feed once off when you arrive at the water or even before you leave home? How often have you hand-picked those monster Tigers for hook baits and chucking them out because they went off? Using our preservative these problems will be no more.
Please ensure that you follow THESE INSTRUCTIONS carefully when using our preservative. Click HERE for a Hemp/Tigernut/Maize ground feed recipe that contains our preservative.
500x Sweetener:
We all know Carp love sweetness! One of the most important additives in your tackle box is no doubt a high quality sweetener. It is not always practical to use sugar; one often uses too much to achieve a good level of sweetness just for the sugar to shrink your baits due to osmosis taking place. The Sugar literally sucks the moisture out of the baits rather than be absorbed by it, leaving the whole process useless.
On the contrary, Sweetener gets absorbed by baits much better and can achieve a much higher level of sweetness. Some extreme sweeteners leave a chemical or bitter taste when used at high levels. Our sweetener remains sweet and palatable at extreme levels and is 500 times sweeter than sugar. A tiny 50ml bottle of our sweetener is equivalent to roughly 20kg’s of sugar making it not only much more effective but cheaper and more practical.
